Overview
Reward the players who welcome newcomers with a raffle for a random prize.
TDX Welcome Raffle turns "welcome!" in chat into a small event. When a player joins your server for the first time, a raffle opens for them. Everyone who welcomes them in chat before the timer runs out is entered, and when it ends one of them wins a random prize.
The default chat lines, as seen by a player who welcomed the newcomer and did not win.
Why it exists
A new player's first minute decides a lot. Being greeted by several people makes a server feel alive, and most players are happy to type "welcome" when there is a little something in it for them. The raffle gives them that reason, without spamming chat with rewards for everyone.
How a raffle runs
- A player joins for the first time. After a short delay, everyone online is told to say the keyword, and the newcomer is told people are about to welcome them.
- Any chat message that contains a keyword enters the sender, with a message and a sound. "Welcome!!!!! Thanks for joining Player123" counts.
- When the timer ends, one entrant who is still online is drawn and
gets a random prize from
rewards.yml. - The other entrants are told who won. You can also tell the newcomer, or everyone.
Highlights
- Keyword entry, a keyword anywhere in the message counts, or only as a whole word if you prefer. Any number of keywords, in any language.
- Weighted prizes, each prize has a chance, written as
10or10%. The chances are compared with each other, so there is always a prize. Each prize runs console commands and sends its own message. - Fair play, players on the newcomer's IP are not entered, a minimum playtime keeps brand-new accounts out, and a cap on open raffles stops a wave of join bots.
- Several newcomers at once, each gets their own raffle, and one welcome enters you into all of them.
- Every colour format,
&e,&#rrggbband MiniMessage tags all work in every message. - PlaceholderAPI expansion, open raffles, time left, entries and whether the viewer is entered.
- Public API,
TDXWelcomeRaffleAPIplus three cancellable events. - Folia safe, and it runs on Paper 1.20 and newer.
Raffles live in memory, there is no database. A raffle that is still open when the server stops ends without a draw, so no prize command runs while the server is shutting down.
